About Tayo

Tayo (pronounced Ty~yo, and which means "Joy" in Yoruba) is of African-American and Nigerian descent (her father is Nigerian). She was born in Washington, DC and moved to Queens, NY with her mother and older sister when she was six years old.  She went to Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA and returned to New York after graduation. She later received two graduate degrees- one from Hunter College, and the other from Rutgers University.

After years of flirting with it, Tayo began modeling in 2011 when she was handpicked to be a model for Essential Arts Studio's “What Makes You Beautiful" art exhibit. Since then she has worked with several photographers, designers, directors and filmmakers for various projects including online promotional materials, catalogs, greeting card lines, coffee-table books, art exhibits, calendars, music videos, shorts, and  even a feature film.

In addition to modeling and  is also an actress and an author who published her first book, His PhD is in Hypocrisy…And Other Poems About My Crappy Ex-Boyfriend.
